The Foundation of Creating a Family Legacy

Memory Book

One of life’s eternal questions is, “Did I make a difference in the world?” This question makes you reflect on your life, what you leave behind, and how others will remember you. Life is about so much more than possessions; it’s about the impression you make in the lives of others.

Savor the Memories

When you start to think about how others will remember you, services such as Storyworth and Artifact allow you to tell your own story as only you can. A great way to begin telling your story on your own is to start a journal (on paper, computer, audio recordings, or even video recordings). Here is a list of questions you may wish to reflect on to start your journey.

These memories are precious; they are lost if they aren’t shared or recorded. However, if the memories are shared, a piece of you can live on for generations to come.

Leaving a legacy

Planning a financial legacy isn’t exclusive to the wealthy. Bethesda Foundation offers many ways for you to help fulfill our mission while leaving your legacy from gifts of cash, stocks, Thrivent Choice Dollars®, and other planned giving methods.

The Norling family chose Bethesda as a partner on their family’s legacy journey in honor of Albin and Fred Norlin. They were both supporters of the mission of Bethesda for over 50 years.

Carley B.'s Kitchen

Recently, Bethesda Foundation was blessed by Carley B.’s family with a donation in Carley’s honor that enabled Bethesda to remodel and update the kitchen on the West Wing of the building. The family also gifted the kitchen a large mixer as a birthday surprise.

Donations that are received can be marked to go towards a specific project/area if the donor requests or can go to a general fund that will amplify the mission and ministry of Bethesda. One such donation request was to go towards the garden in the memory care unit. The donor had fond memories of spending time with their loved one while enjoying the garden together.
